General
Information
The New Jersey
Association for College Admission Counseling (NJACAC) is pleased to offer three
$1,000 scholarships to students who demonstrate a commitment to learning and
have demonstrated leadership skills and/or community service involvement.
High school seniors and community college sophomores are eligible as per the
eligibility criteria listed below.
Eligibility
Criteria
-
The
applicant's school counselor, high school or community college
admission representative must be a member of NJACAC
-
The
applicant must either be a New Jersey high school senior who will be
enrolled as a full-time college freshman in either a two-year or a
four-year accredited college or university OR a community college
sophomore in good standing who will be enrolled in a four-year
accredited college or university for the 2008-09 school year.
The 2009 awards will be
$1,000 for each category.
Completed applications and essays are due prior to the March 1 deadline.
Procedures

Complete the essay and the application that is downloaded from
the link at the bottom of this page or go directly to
http://njacac.com/scholarshipapp.htm

High school students must submit an
official transcript with GPA and rank and with a photocopy of SAT or ACT
scores.

College student should submit an official
college transcript including Spring courses in progress.

Submit two letters of recommendations
only (from a school counselor, a teacher, a professor, an employment
supervisor or community service organization leaders).

Submit an essay of no more
than 400 words in length explaining the depth and breadth of your
involvement in one of the following areas:

Answer the following separately:
Why do you think you merit this scholarship? (50 Words only)

Optional: If there
are any special family circumstances, please explain on a separate paper (no
more than 50 words).

Criteria

All fully complete applications must be
received my March 1 in one single envelope and must be endorsed by a school
counselor or community college admissions/recruitment representative who is
a member of NJACAC
-
Incomplete applications or applications
with false information will not be eligible..

Applications and essays will be reviewed
by the NJACAC Scholarship Committee and recipients will be officially
recognized at the NJACAC Spring Conference.

The winner names will be announced on the
NJACAC.COM website after April 9, 2008
