Mini-Institutes

Planning Guide

  1. Choosing a topic, speaker, date:  Topics may be selected to appeal to guidance counselors, admissions counselors or both.  Individual speakers or panels have both been used in the past.  The Mini-Institutes are scheduled between April and June 2007.  Public high school guidance counselors need at least 60 days to process a professional day request.

  1. Arrangements:  Each Mini-Institute must have a site coordinator to handle the booking of the room, registrations, and mailing with the program details and directions to the site.  Some hosts also offer complimentary lunch and a tour of the campus following the program.

  1. Publicity:  NJACAC will advertise each Mini-Institute through its newsletter, Intercom, emails, its website and through a separate mailing to all NJ high school guidance directors, college admissions directors, as well as the general membership.  You may also send out your own individual flyers to those individuals you would like to invite.

  1. Deadlines:  In order to allow for a mid-February mailing of the brochure, all program proposals must be submitted by February 11, 2008.

  1. Topics:  a wide range of topics have been offered in the past few years.
